Karen’s Corner: The In-Between Season Before Spring (And Why It’s the Perfect Time to Gather)
There’s a moment every year that I’ve started to notice more and more.
It happens somewhere between winter and spring. The calendar says spring is coming, but it doesn’t quite feel like it yet. The light starts staying a little longer in the evening. The air softens just a bit. And suddenly you realize you’re standing in what I like to call the in-between season.
The Spring Equinox marks the official arrival of spring, when day and night are equal and the light begins to win out again. It’s a quiet shift. Not dramatic. But meaningful.
I love this moment.
Not because everything suddenly changes overnight. But because it reminds me that small shifts can lead to big transformations.
And honestly, I think this idea applies to life and business more than we realize.
The “In-Between” Isn’t a Waiting Room
A lot of people treat this time of year like a waiting room.
They’re waiting for spring to really start. Waiting for things to feel easier. Waiting for motivation or momentum to magically appear.
But the in-between season is actually where a lot of the magic happens.
It’s where small adjustments start to add up.
Maybe you open the windows on a slightly warmer day. Maybe you reorganize a drawer that’s been bugging you all winter. Maybe you start walking a little more because the sun is finally out again.
None of these things are dramatic.
But they create momentum.
And momentum is powerful.
Small Shifts Create Big Experiences
This idea also shows up in something we see all the time in the events and entertainment world.
The best events rarely happen because of one huge thing.
They happen because of a series of thoughtful details that build the experience.
A warm welcome when guests arrive.
A room that feels lively and inviting.
Music that pulls people into the moment.
Laughter breaking out over a shared mystery.
Those moments start small, but they build something memorable.
At A Touch of Mystery & More Entertainment Group, that’s exactly what we aim to create.
Our murder mystery events, interactive shows, and themed experiences aren’t just about solving a puzzle. They’re about giving people a chance to step out of their routine and into something unexpected.
For a few hours, coworkers become detectives. Friends become suspects. A quiet dinner turns into a story everyone gets to participate in.
Those are the moments people remember.
Preparing the Runway for What’s Next
Personally, I like to think of this time of year as preparing the runway.
Not reinventing everything.
Not setting unrealistic challenges.
Just making small moves that help the next season unfold more smoothly.
Clearing space.
Getting organized.
Letting a little more light in.
Spring will arrive whether we’re ready or not.
But it feels a lot better when we’ve given ourselves a chance to ease into it.
A Season for Gathering
The other reason I love this in-between moment is that people start gathering again.
Winter tends to keep us indoors and in our routines. But as the days get longer, there’s a natural pull toward connection again.
This is the time when companies start planning spring and summer events.
Friends begin hosting parties again.
Organizations look for ways to bring people together.
And honestly, we need those moments.
Laughter, storytelling, and shared experiences remind us that life is meant to be enjoyed together.
A Little Mystery Makes It Even Better
So if you find yourself in this in-between season, here’s my gentle suggestion.
Don’t rush it.
Let the small shifts happen.
Open the windows.
Make space for new energy.
And maybe plan something fun with people you care about.
Because sometimes the best way to welcome a new season is with a little curiosity, a little laughter… and maybe even a mystery.
And if you’re looking for a memorable way to gather your team, celebrate a special occasion, or host an unforgettable event, we’d love to help you create an experience your guests will be talking about long after the final clue is revealed.
After all, the best seasons in life are the ones we share with those we love!
