Staying Lit When Life Gets Loud (On Stage and Off) with – thoughts from Karen’s Corner

There’s a certain kind of magic that happens when you’re part of something live.

If you’ve ever stepped onto the stage as an actor with A Touch of Mystery & More Entertainment Group, you know it.
If you’ve ever sat in the audience watching one of our shows, laughing, leaning in, trying to solve the mystery before dessert… you definitely know it.

But here’s something we don’t always talk about:

That spark?
That energy?
That feeling of being fully alive in the moment?

It doesn’t just happen.

It’s something we choose. Over and over again.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it takes to stay positive. Not in a fake, “everything is perfect” kind of way, but in a real, grounded, I’m showing up anyway kind of way.

Because let’s be honest…

Life gets busy.
Schedules get full.
Energy dips.
And sometimes, whether you’re an actor, a creative, or just someone juggling a lot, it’s easy to feel like you’re running a little low.

I’ve had moments like that recently.

Moments where I realized I’m great at cheering everyone else on (truly, one of my favorite things)…
…but maybe not always the best at doing that for myself.

Sound familiar?

Here’s what I’ve noticed, both in my own world and watching our incredible performers:

The people who shine the brightest aren’t the ones who wait to feel ready.

They’re the ones who decide to show up anyway.

Actors walk into a room not knowing exactly how it will go… and they do it anyway.
They rehearse, adjust, pivot, and trust the process.

And our audiences?

You show up too.
You choose to step away from your routine, try something different, and say yes to an experience that’s a little unexpected, a little playful, and a lot of fun.

That matters more than you might think.

Because positivity isn’t about perfection.

It’s about participation.

It’s about saying:
“I’m here.”
“I’m in this.”
“I’m willing to engage, even if I don’t feel 100%.”

And honestly?

That’s where the magic starts.

As The Social Butterfly Group founder and social media strategist, I talk a lot about messy consistency. It’s the idea that you don’t need everything to be perfect to move forward. Not only that, you don’t need to keep a rigid schedule and if you miss a day all is lost. That’s just straight BS, friend.

The same applies here.

You don’t need the perfect schedule.
You don’t need the perfect energy.
You don’t need everything to line up just right.

You just need to take the next step.

Show up to the rehearsal.
Say yes to the invitation.
Buy the ticket.
Step into the room.

What I’ve learned (and keep relearning) is this:

It’s not the full calendar that drains us.

It’s the stagnant one.

The one where every day feels the same.
The one where we start operating on autopilot.
The one where creativity quietly slips into the background.

When we interrupt that pattern, even just a little, we wake something back up.

And that’s exactly what live theater, especially something as interactive and immersive as a murder mystery, does so beautifully.

It pulls you out of the routine and drops you into the moment.

So whether you’re one of our talented performers bringing characters to life…
or one of our “lucky us!” audience members along for the ride…

Here’s your gentle reminder:

You don’t have to wait to feel inspired.

Engage first.

Say yes to something that breaks the pattern.
Lean into the experience.
Let yourself be surprised.

Because the spark you’re looking for?

It’s usually waiting on the other side of action.

And from where I’m sitting, watching the stories unfold, both on stage and in the room…

That spark? It’s alive and well.

You just have to step into it. 🦋
